Psychology and Emotional Support

Book an Appointment

Share a few details and we'll get back to you within one business day.

Trying to have a baby isn’t just something that happens in a clinic room. It follows you home. You might feel hopeful after a good scan, then anxious the next morning waiting for a phone call about your hormone levels. Some days you feel strong, other days you just feel worn out, or maybe a bit alone with it all, especially if family or friends keep asking questions you don’t have answers to yet. We see this all the time at Dr. Mazen IVF Clinic, and it’s exactly why IVF emotional support isn’t something we tack on at the end. It’s built into how we work.

Our counselors sit alongside Dr. Mazen and our medical team, not somewhere off to the side. So while Dr. Mazen is checking your bloodwork or planning your next scan, someone is also checking in on how you’re actually doing

Support Before, During, and After Treatment

No matter where you are in the process, there’s someone here to talk to.

  • Before treatment : This is often when the fear is loudest, because everything still feels unknown. We talk through what’s ahead, what the medications might feel like, and what a realistic outcome could look like, so you’re not walking in blind.
  • During treatment :The daily injections, the two-week wait, the constant checking of symptoms… it adds up. In sessions we work on real, usable ways to bring your stress down a notch, not vague advice you’ve already heard a hundred times.
  • After treatment :A cycle ending, whether it worked or not, brings its own wave of emotion. Some patients need help adjusting to a positive result they’re almost afraid to believe. Others are grieving a loss, or trying to decide if and when to try again. We stay with you through that too

Everything said in these sessions stays private. And we’re mindful that people here come from many backgrounds, so sessions are shaped around your values and your comfort, not a one-size-fits-all script.

Fertility treatment shouldn’t just be about your body. It should be about YOU. That’s why emotional care isn’t an add-on in my practice — it’s part of the treatment.”

— Dr. Mazen Dayeh, Consultant Reproductive Endocrinologist

What Actually Happens in a Session

There’s no fixed formula. Depending on what you need that day, a session might involve:

  • Talking through whatever’s sitting heaviest on your mind that week
  • Picking up a few practical tools for anxiety, disappointment, or plain exhaustion
  • Getting support that shifts as your situation shifts, not a set program
  • Working through tension with your partner, gently and without judgement
  • Coming alone, or bringing your partner in with you, whichever feels righ

You can come into our centre in Sharjah, or if that’s easier, do the session over a video call from home. Either way works, and honestly, some people find it easier to open up from their own living room.

Who Comes to Us

This kind of support isn’t only for people mid-treatment. We hear from:

  • Couples who’ve been through several failed IVF attempts and are running low on hope
  • People carrying anxiety, low mood, or just constant worry tied to fertility issues
  • Family members who want to understand how to support a loved one better
  • Anyone still grieving a miscarriage or an unsuccessful transfer
  • Patients who haven’t started treatment yet but want to talk things through first

There’s no referral needed. If something feels like too much to carry on your own, you can book with our counselling team directly, no doctor’s note required.

Why Patients Choose Dr. Mazen IVF

A lot of clinics treat the body and leave the rest to you. We don’t think that works. Here’s roughly what sets our approach apart:

  • Counselors who talk to your medical team, not just to you in isolation
  • Sessions that stay confidential, whether they’re in person or online
  • An awareness of UAE culture and family expectations woven into how we counsel
  • Support that doesn’t stop after one appointment, it follows your whole journey
  • A JCI accredited centre that families across Sharjah, Dubai, and beyond have trusted for years

It’s this full picture of care, medical and emotional together, that keeps patients coming back to us and recommending us to others.

A Few Common Questions

Do I need a referral to talk to someone?

No. You’re welcome to book directly with our counselling team whenever you feel ready.

Yes, completely. Nothing discussed in a session goes beyond that room.

Of course. Some people prefer one-on-one, others want their partner there. Either is fine.

Ready to Talk to Someone?

You don’t have to push through this quietly. If you need a space to talk, cry, vent, or just figure out your next step, our counselling team is here for that. Reach out and take that first step, for your mind as much as your body.
