Dubai UAE
Not all people may be prepared for parenthood at the moment, which is totally fine. Some may be busy building their career, some haven’t found the right person yet, and others may be starting treatment against cancer and wonder how it would affect their fertility. Fertility preservation will give them an opportunity to press the pause button.
At Dr. Mazen IVF, we offer full fertility preservation Dubai services, including both egg freezing and sperm freezing, with a team of fertility specialists and embryologists who’ve been doing this for years. We’ve built our lab around the latest freezing technology, and honestly, we just try to make this whole process a lot less confusing than it usually feels.
Why People Choose to Preserve Their Fertility
The quality and quantity of eggs and sperms do not remain constant throughout life. The female reproductive system has its egg quantity and quality reduce progressively after 35 years of age. Poor quality eggs make conception difficult and increase the possibility of miscarriage and genetic problems with pregnancy.
There isn’t one single reason people come to us for fertility preservation in Dubai. Some of the most common ones we hear are:
- They want to wait a bit longer before having kids, whether that’s for their career, studies, or just finding the right partner
- They’re about to start chemotherapy or radiation, which can damage eggs or sperm
- They have a medical condition or surgery coming up that could affect fertility later
- Tests showed an early drop in ovarian reserve, and they want to lock in their egg quality now rather than later
- They’re planning gender-affirming treatment and want a biological backup
- Or honestly, they just want the peace of mind that comes with having the option
Whatever brings you in, our team at Dr. Mazen IVF will sit down with you, explain things without the medical jargon, and help you figure out whether egg freezing or sperm freezing actually makes sense for you.
How Egg Freezing Works
- Consultation and testing: It starts with a sit-down with one of our fertility specialists. We’ll run blood tests and an ultrasound to check your ovarian reserve, go through your health history, and put together a plan that actually fits your body, not a generic template.
- Ovarian stimulation: From around day 2 of your cycle, you’ll take fertility medication for about 8 to 12 days. The point of this is to get your ovaries to grow more than one egg that cycle, instead of the usual single egg. We’ll bring you in for scans and blood work every few days to track how things are going and tweak the medication if needed.
- Trigger shot: Once the eggs look ready, you get a trigger injection, timed about 36 hours before retrieval. This last step helps the eggs finish maturing.
- Egg retrieval: This is a quick process that takes place after the administration of sedation, hence you will not experience any pain during the process. Eggs are obtained through a fine needle, using ultrasound imaging technique. This process only takes about 20 minutes. In most cases, the patient will be discharged on the same day, and mild cramping is common afterwards.
- Freezing and storage: The eggs are frozen right away using a technique called vitrification, which is basically an ultra-fast freeze. This stops ice crystals from forming inside the egg, which is what used to damage eggs with older freezing methods. From there, they’re stored in secure tanks in our lab until you’re ready for them.
- Using the eggs later: When the time comes, we thaw the eggs and fertilize them with sperm through ICSI, where a single sperm is injected directly into each egg. The resulting embryos are then transferred to the uterus, much like a standard IVF cycle.
How Sperm Freezing Works
- Semen collection: A sample is collected either at the clinic or at home. If it’s collected at home, it needs to reach us within about an hour and stay at room temperature. For men with very low sperm counts, or none at all in their ejaculate, we can also collect sperm surgically through procedures like TESA or micro-TESE.
- Semen analysis: Before freezing anything, our lab checks the sample’s count, movement, and shape. This tells us how good the sample is and how to prepare it properly for freezing.
- Freezing the sample: The sperm goes through a rapid freezing process designed to protect the cells through both freezing and thawing. It’s then stored in monitored, secure tanks until it’s needed.
- Using the sample later: Whenever you’re ready, the sperm is thawed and used in either an IUI cycle or an IVF-ICSI cycle, depending on what makes the most medical sense for you and your partner.
Freeze Eggs Cost Dubai: What Goes Into the Price
There’s no single fixed cost for egg freezing in Dubai, because it depends on your medication dose, how many monitoring visits you need, the retrieval procedure, and the yearly storage fee after that. Sperm freezing is generally cheaper since there’s no hormone medication or retrieval procedure involved. At your consultation, we’ll walk you through exactly what you’re paying for, and go over our current fertility preservation packages so there aren’t any surprises later.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best age for egg freezing?
Does egg freezing hurt?
The retrieval itself is done under light sedation, so you won’t feel pain during the procedure. Afterward you might get some cramping or bloating for a day or two, kind of like period symptoms. Most women are back to normal within a day or two.
How long can frozen eggs or sperm actually be stored?
Do I need medication or surgery for sperm freezing?
In most cases, no. It’s just a semen sample, nothing more. Surgical sperm collection, like TESA or micro-TESE, is only needed if there’s no sperm present in the ejaculate.
What's the freeze eggs cost Dubai clinics typically charge, and does that include storage?
It depends on your medication plan, how many monitoring visits you need, and the retrieval itself. Storage is usually a separate yearly fee on top of that. We’ll give you a full cost breakdown before you start, so you know exactly what’s covered.
